Alex Marquez Attributes Practice Crash to Marco Bezzecchi's Miscalculation
During the afternoon session of the Australian Grand Prix Practice, a collision occurred between Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi, leading to a red flag to clear debris from the track.
Bezzecchi, who was following Marquez, attempted to overtake him at Turn 3 but misjudged his move, resulting in contact with Marquez's Ducati. The impact caused Bezzecchi to lose bodywork and fall into the gravel at Turn 4, though he was unharmed and returned to the garage.
Marquez downplayed the incident, indicating he was on his normal line and that Bezzecchi's attempt to pass was poorly timed. Bezzecchi later set the fastest time of the day, while Marquez, despite crashing at the same corner, qualified for Q2 due to a previous lap time. He also mentioned ongoing struggles with his right shoulder following an earlier injury.
