Alex Marquez Compares His Career to Sete Gibernau's
Alex Marquez has compared his MotoGP career to that of Sete Gibernau, noting that both riders have been overshadowed by legendary figures in the sport. While Gibernau competed during the era of Valentino Rossi, Marquez has faced challenges with his brother, Marc, dominating the scene.
Gibernau was a runner-up to Rossi in 2003 and 2004, while Marquez experienced a similar situation in 2025, finishing as the best of the rest behind Marc. Both riders have also been part of the Gresini team, with Marquez recently donning a retro livery inspired by Gibernau at the German Grand Prix, commemorating Gibernau's notable victory in 2003.
Marquez acknowledged the similarities in their careers, stating that both would likely have been world champions if not for the presence of Rossi and Marc. Despite a strong performance at the Sachsenring, where he qualified second, Marquez faced a setback by crashing out of the race on lap nine.
