Alex Marquez Considers Surgery That May Exclude Him from Qatar GP
Alex Marquez is evaluating the possibility of undergoing surgery on his injured right collarbone, which he fractured during the Catalan GP in May. This decision may lead to his absence from the Qatar Grand Prix scheduled for next week.
The Gresini rider is considering traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Madrid on Sunday night for a potential operation on Tuesday to remove a plate from his collarbone, which has been causing him significant discomfort. Initially, Marquez had planned to have the surgery at the end of the season, but he is now reassessing his options.
Marquez has experienced ongoing issues related to his injury, including bursitis, and has received injections at every race since his return. He noted that the initial surgery was performed quickly to facilitate his return to racing. Looking ahead, Marquez aims to recover fully in time for the final two races of the season and the December test at Valencia, where he will debut KTM's 850cc prototype.
