Alex Palou Leads Chris Griffis Memorial Test at IMS
Alex Palou, a five-time IndyCar Series champion, participated in the Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, marking his debut in an Indy NXT car.
On a chilly day, Palou led a field of 22 drivers, achieving the fastest lap of 1 minute, 14.5050 seconds on the 2.439-mile road course. Tymek Kucharczyk and Max Taylor followed him in second and third place, respectively, with times of 1m14.8209s and 1m14.8453s.
Palou expressed surprise at his performance, noting his lack of experience in the car. He highlighted the competitive nature of the series and mentioned teammate Alessandro de Tullio as a strong reference point, as de Tullio had a successful rookie season. The test session saw a total of 1,573 laps completed by all participants.
