Alexandre Pato Joins Consortium to Acquire Northampton Town
Alexandre Pato, the former forward for AC Milan and Brazil, is involved in a consortium that is poised to acquire a majority stake in Northampton Town, a club in League Two.
The consortium, which includes Pato, previously considered a takeover of Colchester United but opted not to proceed after initial discussions. Pato, who retired from professional football last year, is not leading the consortium.
Northampton's chairman, Kelvin Thomas, indicated last month that a well-funded group's investment proposal had nearly been finalized. The club faced relegation to the fourth tier last season and reported a pre-tax loss of nearly £3 million in April. The proposed investment aims to eliminate the club's debt.
