Alonso Correa Faces Challenges but Shines at US Open

Alonso Correa demonstrated both resilience and skill during his heat at the US Open, despite facing significant challenges. The 28-year-old Peruvian surfer competed in the third heat of the round of 32 against Lucas Cassity, Deivid Silva, and Alan Cleland.

Correa's heat took a dramatic turn when he attempted a high-flying maneuver, resulting in him separating from his board and landing on it, which caused bruised ribs and a damaged board. Undeterred, he quickly replaced his broken board and returned to the water, where he executed a stunning double-barrel wave that earned him a score of 9.60.

Although this impressive score did not secure him a spot in the next round, as Cassity and Silva advanced, Correa's performance was still celebrated for its excitement and skill.
