Alun Wyn Jones Joins Ospreys Board as Director
Ospreys have announced the appointment of former Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones as a director, effective immediately. The 40-year-old will join the Swansea-based team as they prepare for the 2026-27 season.
Jones, who made his Ospreys debut in 2005, has a history with the club, contributing to their success with three titles and an Anglo-Welsh Cup victory. His return comes during a challenging period for the team, as they navigate the Welsh Rugby Union's plans to reduce the number of professional men's teams to three.
Jones expressed his understanding of the challenges facing Welsh rugby and highlighted the potential for growth within the Ospreys and the wider Swansea area. The club is set to play at a renovated St Helen's ground starting in the 2026-27 season, following a redevelopment partnership with Swansea Council. Ospreys' chairman believes Jones's experience will strengthen the board as they move forward.
