Alvarez and Mbilli Make Weight for Title Bout Amid Regional Tensions
Christian Mbilli and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez successfully made weight for their world title bout in Riyadh, just a day after two ballistic missiles were intercepted over the Saudi capital.
Mbilli, who became the WBC super-middleweight champion in January, is set to defend his title against Alvarez, who has a professional record of 63 wins out of 68 fights. Both fighters weighed in at 12st (76kg) before a respectful face-off.
Concerns about the safety of the event have arisen due to ongoing conflicts in the region, with the UK's Foreign Office advising against non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia. Despite the tensions, the boxing match is scheduled to proceed, with Alvarez fighting for the first time since his loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025.
