Amar Dedic Joins Newcastle United from Benfica for £29.5 Million
Newcastle United has secured the signing of Amar Dedic from Benfica for a fee of £29.5 million. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has agreed to a five-year contract and is expected to make his debut in the Premier League opener against Liverpool.
The 24-year-old full-back, who will wear the No 37 shirt, is the sixth senior player added to Newcastle's roster this summer. Dedic has experience playing on both flanks and previously collaborated with Newcastle head coach Matthias Jaissle at Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering.
Jaissle praised Dedic's athleticism and technical skills, noting his potential for further development. Sporting director Ross Wilson highlighted Dedic's capabilities as a modern full-back who will enhance the team's performance immediately. Dedic has made 95 appearances for Salzburg and has represented Bosnia and Herzegovina 31 times, including participation in the World Cup.
