Amateur Golfer Achieves Rare Feat with Eight Birdies in Nine Holes
Allan Harrison, a 64-year-old amateur golfer, achieved an extraordinary feat at Fairhaven Golf Club by scoring eight birdies in just nine holes. This remarkable performance came after he started his round with four dropped shots on the front nine.
Following a break for a pasty and a drink, Harrison found his rhythm, recording seven consecutive birdies before finishing with eight in total. The odds of an amateur golfer accomplishing this are estimated at one in 322 billion, while Harrison's own odds were calculated at one in 455,000 due to his 0.4 handicap.
Despite his impressive performance, Harrison narrowly missed setting a record by settling for a par on the 17th hole. He led the Silver Pheasant tournament after the first round but finished second overall. This achievement is not entirely unique, as Australian golfer Amelia Harris also scored eight birdies in nine holes recently.
