Analysis of Sam Darnold and Justin Herbert's Struggles This NFL Season

This week's Quarterback Notebook focuses on the difficulties experienced by NFL quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Justin Herbert during the current season.

Sam Darnold's performance has declined compared to his previous season, with a noticeable increase in challenging passing situations. In just three games this year, he has faced more third-and-long scenarios than he did in the entire previous season. His recent game against San Francisco showcased his struggles, including two interceptions resulting from tight-window throws.

Meanwhile, Justin Herbert is having a notably poor season, marked by a high number of turnovers, including a critical fourth-quarter interception against the Broncos. Despite his struggles, discussions about the Chargers moving on from Herbert are premature, as he remains a key player on the team. The overall performance of the Chargers' roster has also contributed to Herbert's difficulties, as he faces mounting pressure during games.
