Andrew Hawkins Critiques Raiders' QB Decision for Upcoming Season
The Las Vegas Raiders are set to continue with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins as their starter, despite having rookie Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall draft pick, on the roster. This decision was confirmed in a recent update.
During a segment on ESPN's Get Up, analyst Andrew Hawkins voiced his concerns regarding the team's quarterback strategy under first-year head coach Klint Kubiak. Hawkins believes that Mendoza should be given the opportunity to start soon, citing his leadership qualities and readiness to handle the pressures of the game.
Hawkins pointed out that Mendoza performed well during a preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, completing 10 of 16 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. Despite this, the Raiders' management, including minority owner Tom Brady, appears committed to starting Cousins in their season opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 13.
