Andrew Hoffmann Returns from Injury with Scoreless Debut for IronPigs
ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Andrew Hoffmann made his debut for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs after recovering from a latissimus dorsi strain, contributing to a 4-1 victory against Worcester.
In his first outing since being activated from the 60-day injured list, Hoffmann pitched 1 1/3 innings, striking out two batters and allowing only a walk. His fastball reached speeds of up to 95 mph, and he utilized a mix of pitches, focusing on his four-seam fastball and changeup.
Hoffmann, who was previously with the Arizona Diamondbacks, faced challenges earlier in the season, including a high ERA and a stint on the injured list. After being designated for assignment by Arizona, he was claimed by the Phillies and optioned to Lehigh Valley. The IronPigs celebrated first responders and veterans before the game, marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
