Andrew Nardi to Undergo Elbow Surgery, Ending 2026 Season
Andrew Nardi, a left-handed reliever for the Miami Marlins, is set to undergo elbow surgery, as announced by manager Clayton McCullough. This procedure will end Nardi's 2026 season and may have implications for his participation in the following year.
The announcement comes unexpectedly, as Nardi was not previously reported to have an elbow issue. He has been on the injured list since late May due to a stress reaction in his ribcage and reportedly sustained the elbow injury while starting a throwing program. McCullough indicated that Nardi is facing a lengthy recovery period.
If the surgery involves ligament repair, it could sideline him for all of 2027. Even less invasive procedures may require a recovery of 12 to 14 months. Nardi has faced a series of injuries, including a muscular issue in his elbow in 2024 and lower back pain that kept him out for the entirety of last season. He was placed on the 60-day injured list in early June and is unlikely to return this season.
