Andrew Painter Returns to Phillies as Fifth Starter After Strong Triple-A Performance

Andrew Painter has been called up to the Philadelphia Phillies as their fifth starter after a successful run with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He made his first big-league start since June 17 against the Orioles, where he pitched six innings, allowing two runs in a loss.

The decision to promote Painter came as the Phillies opted not to acquire a starting pitcher before the trade deadline. Team president Dave Dombrowski noted that Painter's recent performances influenced this choice, highlighting his progress in the minor leagues.

Painter, who previously struggled in the majors, showed improvement in his last two Triple-A starts, allowing only three runs over ten innings.
