Andy Green's Future with the Mets Remains Uncertain
Recent discussions regarding Andy Green's future with the New York Mets have emerged, with Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy advocating for Green to be appointed as the team's full-time manager. Green, who previously held the position of senior vice president of player development, appears to prefer a return to the front office after the current season.
MLB insider Chelsea Janes reported that sources indicate the Mets plan for Green to transition back to a front office role, potentially as general manager, a position that has been vacant since David Stearns took over as president of baseball operations in October 2023. Despite criticism from fans regarding roster decisions, team owner Steve Cohen has expressed his commitment to Stearns.
Under Green's interim management, the Mets' performance has improved slightly, moving from a record of 47-66 to 60-73. However, Green has indicated that he values doing what is right for the team over public opinion, suggesting a preference for a general manager role rather than a permanent managerial position.
