Angel Roa of Red Sox Named Dominican Summer League Pitcher of the Week

Angel Roa, a pitching prospect for the Boston Red Sox, has been awarded the title of Dominican Summer League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 27 to August 2, as announced by Minor League Baseball.

In his most recent outing for DSL Red Sox Red, Roa achieved a perfect game against DSL Red Sox Blue, striking out six batters and retiring all 15 he faced over five innings without allowing any hits or walks. This performance contributed to a 5-0 victory, marking Roa's first professional win.

Roa, who is 17 years old and hails from Venezuela, has a record of 1-0 with a 1.72 ERA and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 16-to-4 across six games this season. He signed with the Red Sox as an international free agent in January for $10,000 and made his professional debut in June. After a brief hiatus, he returned to the mound on July 4 and has since allowed only one unearned run in his last 12 2/3 innings.
