Angels Activate Yusei Kikuchi from 60-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Angels are welcoming back left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, who will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start today's game against the Texas Rangers. Kikuchi has been out since late April due to left shoulder inflammation.
Kikuchi, 35, joined the Angels in 2025 on a three-year, $63 million contract. He had a successful 2025 season, pitching 178 1/3 innings with a 3.99 ERA and leading the team with 174 strikeouts. However, his performance in 2026 was hindered by injury, as he only managed to pitch two innings in his first start before being placed on the injured list.
Despite a challenging start to the season, Kikuchi's underlying statistics suggested he was still a capable pitcher. The Angels' rotation has been average in performance this year, and Kikuchi's return is seen as a boost. He is expected to take on a significant role moving forward, especially as he is under contract through 2027.
