Angels Eliminated from Playoff Contention After Loss to Red Sox

BOSTON — The Los Angeles Angels were eliminated from playoff contention for the 12th consecutive year after losing 5-2 to the Boston Red Sox on Monday. This marks the longest active playoff drought in Major League Baseball.

Adley Rutschman contributed to the Red Sox's victory with a three-run homer, while Brayan Bello pitched five scoreless innings in his first start since early June. Jarren Duran also hit a solo home run during a four-run second inning, helping Boston improve to an MLB-best 34-17 record since the All-Star break.

Moisés Ballesteros hit a solo homer for the Angels, who have struggled recently, losing 12 of their last 14 games. The Angels' Garrett Whitlock secured the save for Boston, while the team previously swept a three-game series against the Angels in July. The Angels are set to face the Red Sox again on Tuesday night.
