Angels Part Ways with Manager Kurt Suzuki After One Season
The Los Angeles Angels have announced that they will not exercise the 2027 club option on manager Kurt Suzuki, concluding his time with the team after just one season. This decision was made public on Wednesday, and the organization will begin the search for a new manager and coaching staff.
Interim general manager John Mozeliak stated that Suzuki has been offered a position as a special assistant within the organization. He acknowledged Suzuki's respect among players and expressed that the team's performance this year did not accurately reflect his managerial capabilities. Mozeliak also thanked the coaching staff for their professionalism during a challenging season.
The Angels' decision follows a series of changes within the organization, including the dismissal of general manager Perry Minasian earlier in the year. With billionaire Stan Kroenke set to take ownership of the team, the Angels are looking to establish a new leadership structure, starting with a new president of baseball operations or general manager, who will then appoint a new manager and staff.
