Angels Trade Jo Adell to Guardians
The Cleveland Guardians have finalized a trade to acquire outfielder Jo Adell from the Los Angeles Angels. The deal, reported by Jon Heyman, also involves catching prospect Jacob Cozart moving to the Angels.
At 27 years old, Adell brings power to a Guardians lineup that has struggled offensively. This season, he has hit 16 home runs along with 16 doubles and a triple, but his overall batting average stands at .239 with a .287 on-base percentage. Adell has performed better against left-handed pitchers, boasting a .303 batting average in those matchups, while his performance against right-handed pitchers has been less effective.
The Guardians have faced difficulties against left-handed pitching this season, ranking low in offensive production. Adell is expected to play regularly against left-handed starters, potentially taking playing time from younger outfielder Petey Halpin.
