The Los Angeles Angels have traded starting pitcher José Soriano to the Toronto Blue Jays, according to reports. In exchange, the Blue Jays are sending shortstop prospect Arjun Nimmela, minor-league outfielder Eddie Micheletti, and teenage right-hander Angel Rivero to the Angels.

This trade follows the Blue Jays' earlier decision to send pitcher Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs. Soriano, who is under team control until 2028 and has a salary of $2.9 million this season, is having a standout year with a 3.29 ERA, which would be his best in the majors. Despite leading the American League in walks allowed, he has effectively limited home runs and hits.

Soriano's performance has attracted the Blue Jays' interest as they seek to improve following a disappointing season after their 2025 World Series appearance. He will join a rotation that includes Dylan Cease, while the team faces the loss of Shane Bieber to free agency and the recent trade of Gausman.
