Angus Anderson's Journey as a Collingwood Apprentice

Angus Anderson, a 23-year-old player for Collingwood, is currently in his first season in the AFL, where he is honing his skills as a forward with aspirations to become a midfielder. Drafted as a late-maturing Pick 57 in the 2025 National Draft, he has made a significant impact by scoring 18 goals in 16 games.

Anderson, who grew up on the North Coast of New South Wales and was the first male player from that region to be drafted, previously played for the Sydney Swans Academy and Sturt in the SANFL. His performance in the SANFL grand final earned him a best-on-ground medal, leading to his selection by Collingwood.

While he did not expect to play as a forward, Anderson recognizes the importance of versatility in securing a spot on the team. He aims to eventually return to his preferred midfield position. As Collingwood prepares for a Wildcard Round final against the Western Bulldogs, Anderson looks forward to playing in front of a large crowd, with family traveling to support him at the MCG.
