
Ankita and Venkatram Set New Records at National Open Athletics Championships
Ankita and Mogali Venkatram Reddy established new meet records during the 65th National Open Athletics Championships at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. On the final day of the event, Ankita clocked 9:34.86 in the women's 3000m steeplechase, surpassing the previous record held by Lalita Babar for 11 years.
Venkatram, the 2025 junior National champion, won the men's 800m with a personal best of 1:47.01, setting a new meet record. In the men's 200m, Jishnu Prasad P.K. achieved a personal best of 20.62 seconds, finishing ahead of Abhin Devadiga.
Other notable performances included Murad Sirman breaking the 50-second barrier in the 400m hurdles with a time of 49.86 seconds. The championships also featured various athletes achieving personal bests across different events, highlighting the competitive spirit of the meet.
