Ankur Bhattacharjee, a 19-year-old table tennis player from India, secured the men's singles title at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships held in New Delhi on August 2, 2026. His victory came after a challenging path, including a dramatic final against his doubles partner Payas Jain.

The tournament was particularly significant for Ankur, who had recently missed selection for the Asian Games. He faced tough opponents, including Malaysia's Wong Qi Shen and Australia's Nicholas Lum, before defeating Manav Thakkar in the semifinals. Ankur's performance showcased his improved skills, particularly his forehand, which he developed under the guidance of his father and coach, Angshuman Bhattacharjee.

The final match lasted 70 minutes, with Ankur recovering from a 2-3 deficit to win in seven games.
