Anna Nordqvist, a three-time major champion, will retire from professional golf after competing in the FM Championship near Boston this week.
The 39-year-old Swede is set to captain Europe in the upcoming Solheim Cup against the United States at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11-13. Nordqvist has participated in all nine editions of the Solheim Cup since her debut in 2009, contributing to Europe's five victories.
Throughout her 18-year career, Nordqvist has earned $14.1 million and secured nine wins on the LPGA Tour along with five on the Ladies European Tour. She recently faced personal challenges, including the loss of her husband and health issues, which influenced her decision to retire and focus on her health and family.
