Anna Stembridge Appointed England Netball Coach for 2027 World Cup
England Netball has appointed Anna Stembridge as the head coach for the team leading up to the 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney. Stembridge, who is 45 years old, took over as interim head coach in March after Jess Thirlby resigned from the position.
During her interim tenure, Stembridge was unable to secure a medal for the Roses at the Commonwealth Games held in August. Despite this, she has been confirmed to continue in her role. Joining her coaching staff will be Tamsin Greenway, head coach of the London Mavericks, and Jo Harten, assistant coach for the NSW Swifts, both of whom are recognized figures in English netball.
Stembridge previously led the Roses from 2011 to 2015, achieving notable successes including a fourth-place finish at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and a historic series win against Australia in 2013. After serving as an assistant coach to Thirlby, she expressed her commitment to preparing the team for a competitive performance at the World Cup, which is scheduled for August 25 to September 5, 2027, in Sydney. England was the runner-up in the last World Cup held in 2023.
