Anthony Santander Faces New Injury Setback with Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays are facing challenges regarding Anthony Santander's potential return this season as he deals with a new injury. After starting a minor league rehab assignment following shoulder surgery in February, Santander is now experiencing lower back soreness.
This latest setback has resulted in his absence from the Triple-A Buffalo lineup. Despite having played two rehab games where he went 1-7, the chances of Santander rejoining the Blue Jays before the end of the regular season seem slim. His ongoing injury issues have raised concerns about his future with the team.
Previously, Santander last played for the Blue Jays on October 15, 2025, and has struggled since joining the team after a successful season with the Baltimore Orioles in 2024. His performance last season was limited, appearing in only 54 games with a batting average of .175, six home runs, and 18 RBIs.
