Anthropic Files for IPO, Revealing $16.3 Billion Revenue and Unique Lockup Schedule
Anthropic has submitted its S-1 investor prospectus in preparation for an initial public offering, expected to occur later this fall under the ticker symbol ANT. The AI lab, led by CEO Dario Amodei, has gained significant traction with its Claude AI tools.
In the first half of 2026, Anthropic reported $16.3 billion in revenue, a substantial increase from the previous year's total of $4.6 billion. However, the company also faced a net loss of $80.7 billion, primarily due to accounting charges. The S-1 filing highlights the company's spending on AI infrastructure, which reached $9 billion in the same period.
Anthropic's filing includes a notable lockup schedule that permits some insiders to trade shares on the first day of trading, contrasting with the typical 180-day waiting period. The company has also outlined risks associated with its customer base and competition in the AI sector, emphasizing the importance of attracting and retaining clients.
