Antoine Griezmann Wins MLS Player of the Matchday Award
Antoine Griezmann has been awarded the MLS Player of the Matchday following his impressive performance in Orlando City's match against Real Salt Lake. This accolade makes him the eighth World Cup winner to receive this honor, joining Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller.
In the match held at Inter&Co Stadium, Orlando City initially trailed after Dominik Marczuk scored for Real Salt Lake in the 36th minute. Griezmann played a pivotal role in the comeback, scoring the equalizer in the 53rd minute and netting the winning goal in the 81st minute, leading to a 2-1 victory.
Since joining Orlando City in July, Griezmann has participated in six MLS matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His performance against Real Salt Lake marked his first MLS brace. The MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 22 also highlighted the ongoing trend of World Cup champions making significant impacts in the league.
