Aoife Wafer Excluded from Ireland's WXV Global Series in South Africa
Aoife Wafer has been ruled out of Ireland's upcoming WXV Global Series matches against South Africa due to a minor injury sustained during training. The 23-year-old forward, who has previously been named player of the tournament in the Women's Six Nations, will not join the 30-player squad led by head coach Scott Bemand.
Wafer missed Ireland's recent victories over Japan and will not travel to Cape Town for the matches scheduled on October 24 and 31. Additionally, former co-captain Sam Monaghan is unavailable due to an Achilles injury, while Ruth Campbell returns from an ankle injury to join the squad.
The team, captained by Erin King, features several recently capped players, including Beth Buttimer and Jemima Adams Verling. Following a week of remote training, the squad will reconvene at the IRFU High Performance Centre before departing for South Africa.
