Aprilia Racing Reflects on Australian GP Cancellation Amid Uncertainty
The Australian Grand Prix was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, leaving Aprilia Racing uncertain about the implications for their team. With only four races remaining in the season, CEO Massimo Rivola expressed mixed feelings regarding the cancellation, particularly in light of Jorge Martín's recent injury.
Martín, who broke his arm during the sprint race, may view the cancellation as a slight relief, as it prevents his rival Marc Marquez from extending his championship lead. However, Rivola noted that Marco Bezzecchi, currently third in the standings, might feel disappointed at missing an opportunity to close the gap.
The race was called off because the medical helicopter could not be guaranteed to operate safely, a concern Rivola acknowledged. Despite the disappointment for fans and the team, Rivola emphasized the importance of safety and the unpredictable nature of racing conditions.
