Argentina's Soccer Teams to Honor Messi with Minute of Applause

Soccer teams throughout Argentina will honor Lionel Messi with a minute of applause during their next matches, following his announcement to retire from international soccer.

Referees will halt play at the 10-minute mark in all upcoming Clausura tournament matches, as well as in other men's and women's leagues, to celebrate Messi's contributions to the national team, as stated by the Argentine Football Association.

The 39-year-old Messi, who served the national team for 21 years, declared his retirement on Monday. He is known for leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup and holds national records with 207 appearances and 125 goals. Despite his retirement from international duty, Messi continues to play for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
