Arsenal Finalizes £75m Deal for Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle
Arsenal has successfully negotiated a £75 million transfer fee with Newcastle for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who currently serves as the captain of the team. The Brazilian player has been granted permission to travel for a medical examination as part of the transfer process.
Guimaraes, who has two years remaining on his contract with Newcastle, expressed his desire to join Arsenal earlier this summer. Although Arsenal's initial bid was turned down, the 28-year-old is now poised to make the move to the Premier League champions. Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in 2022 for £40 million, he has made 195 appearances and scored 31 goals.
If the transfer proceeds as anticipated, Newcastle will have generated over £240 million from player sales this summer, following the departures of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69.3 million and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham for £100 million. Newcastle had been reluctant to sell Guimaraes but acknowledged his wish to leave for a chance to compete for titles.
