Arsenal Nears Transfer Deal for Defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa
Arsenal is reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer for centre-back Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa. The Athletic's David Ornstein indicated that discussions between the two clubs have progressed towards finalizing the deal.
Konsa, who is 28 years old, is Arsenal's primary target for strengthening their defense. His ability to play both as a right-back and a central defender adds to his appeal. Arsenal had also shown interest in Bayer Leverkusen's Jarrell Quansah, but with Leverkusen's firm stance on not selling him, the focus has shifted to Konsa.
Currently, Konsa has two years remaining on his contract with Aston Villa, where he has made 286 appearances since joining from Brentford in 2019. He played a vital role in Villa's successful season under Unai Emery, participating in 48 matches as the team secured a fourth-place finish in the Premier League and won the Europa League.
