Arsenal Plans to Cut 60 Jobs Despite Record Revenues
Arsenal Football Club has notified its staff about plans to eliminate 60 jobs from its workforce, following their recent Premier League victory and the announcement of record revenues for the 2024-25 season.
The job cuts will impact several departments but will not affect coaching or performance staff for either the men's or women's teams. Positions within the Arsenal Foundation, Arsenal in the Community, and security staff will also remain intact.
This decision comes after an external review of the workforce, which was initiated prior to the club's Premier League success. The announcement follows the recent confirmation of Mikel Arteta's lucrative contract extension, which reportedly includes a salary increase to £10 million per year, plus £5 million in bonuses. Arsenal's financial report indicated record revenues of £691 million for the upcoming financial year, despite an overall loss of £1.4 million and rising operating costs.
