Arsenal's Mariona Caldentey to Miss Up to 10 Weeks Due to Injury
Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey is anticipated to be out for around two months due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during a match against Manchester City on October 4, where Arsenal lost 4-2.
Caldentey, a significant player for Arsenal since her transfer from Barcelona two years ago, was part of the Spain squad that won the 2023 Women's World Cup. Arsenal manager Renee Slegers confirmed that the injury is serious, estimating a recovery period of eight to ten weeks, although they are hopeful for a quicker return.
Her absence poses a challenge for Arsenal, who are set to face Birmingham City in their next Women's Super League match. The team has struggled this season, winning only one of their first five matches and currently sitting in 10th place. Additionally, they will also be without England forward Chloe Kelly and German signing Selina Cerci, who recently underwent knee surgery.
