
Ashfaq Sets U20 National Record in 400m at World Championships
Mohommed Ashfaq achieved a new U20 national record in the 400m event at the World Athletics U20 Championships held in Eugene, USA. The 19-year-old athlete clocked a time of 45.81 seconds, finishing second in his heat and qualifying for the semifinals.
Ashfaq surpassed his previous record of 46.05 seconds set earlier this year. In the women's discus throw final, 18-year-old Amanat Kamboj recorded a personal best of 53.24m, securing a sixth-place finish. The gold medal was claimed by Su Yixin from China with a throw of 61.06m.
In other events, Basant qualified for the men's high jump finals, while several compatriots, including Piyush Raj and Anshu, did not advance in their respective events.
