Ashton Jeanty Struggles with Low Rushing Average in NFL Season
Ashton Jeanty, the Raiders' running back, has not met expectations since being chosen sixth overall in the 2025 NFL draft. Following a loss to the Rams, Jeanty recorded just 15 yards on eight carries, bringing his season total to 106 carries for 328 yards, which averages out to 3.1 yards per carry.
Jeanty's performance has been notably poor compared to his backup, rookie Mike Washington, who averages 4.9 yards per carry. Jeanty has only managed 15 rushing first downs this season, with every other running back with at least 90 carries surpassing that number. Additionally, he has scored just one rushing touchdown.
Despite his struggles on the ground, Jeanty has shown some effectiveness in the passing game, catching all eight passes thrown to him in the recent game for 61 yards and a touchdown. Over the season, he has accumulated 34 receptions for 312 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Jeanty remains optimistic about improving as the season progresses.
