Ashwin Urges Clarity for Sarfaraz Khan's Role in Indian Test Squad

Sarfaraz Khan's inclusion in the Indian Test squad has ignited a selection debate as the team prepares for the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. He is vying for a spot in the playing XI against Dhruv Jurel, following the injury of Sai Sudharsan.

Despite his return, Ashwin suggests that Jurel may be favored for the match starting on August 15. Sarfaraz, who last played for India during a series against New Zealand in 2024, had a notable performance in his first Test but struggled in subsequent matches, leading to his exclusion from the team.

Ashwin believes that the team management should provide Sarfaraz with clear guidance regarding his role, especially if there are concerns about his performance in certain conditions. He noted that Sarfaraz's skills against spin could be beneficial in Sri Lanka, where spin bowling is expected to play a significant role.
