Aspinall Requires Eye Tests for UFC Return
Tom Aspinall is required to complete further eye examinations before he can make his return to the UFC, as stated by Eddie Hearn.
The heavyweight champion has not competed since October 2025, when a double eye poke from Ciryl Gane resulted in a no contest during their UFC 321 main event. Following that incident, Aspinall underwent several surgeries to address the injuries sustained, and Hearn noted that obtaining clearance from the commission is the last obstacle before Aspinall can fight again.
Hearn, who represents Aspinall through Matchroom, mentioned that while the fighter is currently training and eager to return, he must meet medical requirements first. He emphasized the seriousness of Aspinall's injuries, indicating that the commission's scrutiny reflects their severity. Gane has since claimed the interim heavyweight title, and a unification match between him and Aspinall is anticipated once Aspinall receives medical clearance.
