Aston Martin Supports Honda Despite Challenges at Monza

Aston Martin has reaffirmed its partnership with Honda following a challenging performance at the Monza circuit, where Fernando Alonso finished 19th in the second practice session, trailing the fastest competitor by over two seconds.

Enrico Cardile emphasized the importance of having a dedicated power unit supplier for teams aiming for World Championship success, asserting that Honda is the right choice. Alonso echoed this sentiment, expressing complete trust in Honda's ability to improve, citing the manufacturer's facilities in Japan and the return of key personnel from its previous championship-winning efforts.

While Honda's revised engine has shown improvements in drivability, Alonso noted the urgency for competitive performance, aiming for significant progress within the next two to three seasons. Cardile mentioned that the recent chassis updates have enhanced both downforce and drivability, and indicated that further weight reduction will likely finalize the aerodynamic design for the 2026 car, with a focus already shifting to a completely new Aston Martin for 2027.
