Aston Martin Tests Updated Valkyrie Hypercar Ahead of 2027 Championships
Aston Martin, in collaboration with THOR, has initiated testing of the updated Valkyrie hypercar over three days, gearing up for its participation in the 2027 World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship.
The testing began with an initial rollout at Hinton Airfield in the UK on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a comprehensive test at Silverstone on Wednesday. The Valkyrie, driven by works drivers including Harry Tincknell, was showcased in a semi-camouflage livery featuring a mix of green, black, light blue, and blue patterns.
While specific updates to the car remain undisclosed, team principal Ian James indicated that the team plans to utilize evo jokers to enhance aerodynamics and other aspects, pending the analysis of collected data. Further testing is scheduled in Austin on September 9 and in Aragon on September 15, with additional sessions planned at the Windshear wind tunnel for final homologation. Currently, Aston Martin ranks sixth in the WEC manufacturers' standings and fifth in IMSA's GTP class.
