Aston Villa Finalizes Agreement to Sign Leon Goretzka
Aston Villa has reportedly secured a deal to sign Leon Goretzka, a midfielder from Germany. This move comes as Villa seeks to strengthen their midfield following the departure of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and the injury of Amadou Onana, who is sidelined due to an ACL rupture.
The club has already added Joao Gomes from Wolves but shifted focus to Goretzka after negotiations for Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich fell through. Goretzka, who is a free agent after leaving Bayern, has reached a verbal agreement with Villa, facilitated by a conversation with manager Unai Emery. A medical examination is scheduled for the upcoming week.
During his tenure at Bayern, Goretzka made 312 appearances and scored 51 goals, contributing to the team's success with seven Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, and one Champions League title. Aston Villa is set to begin their Premier League season on Sunday against Brighton and Hove Albion.
