Aston Villa Negotiates Transfer for Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich

Aston Villa is currently in negotiations to sign Joao Palhinha, a midfielder from Bayern Munich. The discussions come after Amadou Onana sustained a serious knee injury while representing Belgium at the World Cup.

Palhinha, 31, has made 25 appearances for Bayern since his transfer in 2024. Although he has not yet made a final decision, sources indicate he is considering a move to Villa Park as a favorable option. Bayern Munich is open to letting him go two years after acquiring him for £47.4 million from Fulham.

Previously, Palhinha was on loan at Tottenham, but the club chose not to activate their purchase option. Villa's director of football expressed interest in Palhinha, noting his potential fit within the team's plans. This statement followed a pre-season friendly where Villa lost to Bayern, with Palhinha participating as a substitute.
