Aston Villa Negotiates Transfer for Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich

Aston Villa is currently engaged in negotiations to sign Joao Palhinha, a midfielder from Bayern Munich. This move comes as manager Unai Emery aims to strengthen the team's lineup after Amadou Onana sustained a serious knee injury.

Palhinha, who is 31 years old, has emerged as a potential addition to the squad following Onana's anterior cruciate ligament injury during the World Cup. Although he is reportedly open to the transfer, sources indicate that he has not yet made a final decision. Bayern Munich is willing to let him go just two years after acquiring him from Fulham for £47.4 million.

Director of football Damian Vidagany confirmed Villa's interest in Palhinha, stating that discussions are ongoing but no agreement has been reached. He acknowledged Palhinha's suitability for the team's plans while emphasizing the respect Villa has for Bayern. This comes after Villa's recent pre-season match against Bayern Munich, where Palhinha played as a substitute.
