Aston Villa Pursues Joel Ordonez After Failed Deal for Harwood-Bellis
Aston Villa is actively seeking to sign Joel Ordonez, a central defender from Club Brugge, following an unsuccessful attempt to secure Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton.
The Premier League club, which recently sold defender Ezri Konsa to Arsenal, is in ongoing discussions with Club Brugge, who are reportedly asking for at least £40 million for the Ecuadorian international. Ordonez, 22, has made 124 appearances for Brugge since joining from Independiente del Valle in 2022 and represented Ecuador at the recent World Cup.
Aston Villa had initially focused on Harwood-Bellis, but their £18 million offer was rejected by Southampton, leading them to explore other options. With the transfer deadline approaching on September 1, Villa is looking to bolster their squad after losing several key players, including Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne, and Konsa.
