Aston Villa Signs Leon Goretzka on Free Transfer

Aston Villa has finalized the acquisition of Leon Goretzka, a former midfielder for Bayern Munich, on a free transfer. The 31-year-old German international became available after leaving Bayern this summer following an eight-year tenure with the club.

Goretzka, who made 312 appearances for Bayern and scored 51 goals, joins Villa as they seek to strengthen their midfield after suffering a 4-0 defeat to Brighton in their opening Premier League match. The team is currently without Amadou Onana, who is sidelined due to a knee injury.

During his time at Bayern, Goretzka won seven league titles and the Champions League in 2020. His experience is expected to be valuable for Villa, especially as they navigate a challenging transfer window, having already lost several key players this summer.
