Aston Villa Signs Suzuki and Ruggeri Ahead of Premier League Season
Aston Villa has completed the signings of goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and left-back Matteo Ruggeri as they gear up for the upcoming Premier League season.
Zion Suzuki joins from Parma in a deal that could reach £30 million, and he is expected to take over as the club's primary goalkeeper, especially with Emiliano Martinez likely to depart before the transfer window closes. Matteo Ruggeri, who transfers from Atletico Madrid for around £21 million, will compete with Ian Maatsen for the left-back position.
These acquisitions come after Villa experienced significant departures, including Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for a British-record £117 million and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United for £35 million. Suzuki, who made his Japan debut in 2022, is anticipated to start in goal for Villa's opening match against Brighton.
