Aston Villa Signs Zion Suzuki for £29.9m Amid Emiliano Martinez Transfer Talks
Aston Villa has finalized a £29.9m (€35m) deal with Parma to sign Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. This agreement coincides with Juventus's ongoing negotiations to acquire Villa's current number one, Emiliano Martinez, who has been the subject of an £8.5m (€10m) bid from the Italian club.
The bid for Martinez is below Villa's valuation, but discussions are still active. Suzuki, who has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, saw that deal fall through, allowing Villa to pursue him as a potential replacement for Martinez.
At 24 years old, Suzuki has made 57 Serie A appearances since joining Parma from Urawa Red Diamonds in 2024. He was also the starting goalkeeper for Japan during the recent World Cup, where the team was eliminated by Brazil.
